Building and managing a Virtual Community, to insure equal access for all

Abstract

In April of 2017 we launched our Virtual Technology Club initiative. The idea behind this project is that for many people who need technical support, they can get some of the most useful advice via peer learning and discussion. We have created a virtual space to support this to take place, as well as to bring expertise from all over the world to our virtual table.
Many of the people accessing this service are NVDA users, and indeed we are actively supporting this free screen reader for those with whom we work.

Once a year at NVDACon, NV Access assembles in front of the community to offer a keynote.
This year presents the largest changes to the NVDA development landscape the project has ever seen, and thus NVDACon once again welcomes NV Access to the stage to talk about what this means for the project, and how we are future proofing NVDA!
This year, the keynote will be delivered live, and then 8 hours later, will be played again, allowing European and Asian listeners to tune in. At the end of this, a second q&a session will take place for those who couldn’t make it to the live event.
